Booking on Ride gives Guests peace of mind knowing they are covered by an Auto Protection Package. To ensure your reservation is eligible for coverage, all primary renters and additional drivers must meet our age eligibility requirements.

Why Do I Need to Confirm My Age Before Booking?
While the minimum age required to create an account and use the Ride platform is 18 years old (see the Ride Terms of Service for more information), vehicle coverage rules are stricter. To be covered by an Auto Protection Package during a trip, a primary Guest or added driver must successfully meet the following criteria:
Purchase a Protection Package during checkout
Meet the minimum driver age guidelines set for the specific vehicle
Successfully complete driver verification before departure
Platform Usage vs. Protection Package Coverage Age Limits
It is important to understand the distinction between platform registration and driving eligibility:
Platform Usage: Minimum age of 18 years old.
Driver & Protection Package Eligibility: Minimum age of 25 years old (standard rule).

Exceptions for Young Drivers (Aged 21–24):
Guests between the ages of 21 and 24 may be permitted to book or drive a Ride vehicle only if the Host has explicitly enabled Young Driver permissions on their listing and the reservation meets all of the following conditions:
Vehicle Value: The vehicle is not classified as an exotic make and has a market value under $50,000.
Location: The entire trip takes place within the United States.
Young Driver Fee: The Guest agrees to a mandatory $25/day Young Driver Fee added to the Ride reservation total.
How to Check If a Listing Allows Young Drivers (Aged 21–24)
If you are a Young Driver, you can quickly check if a specific vehicle is available for you to rent during the checkout process:
Select Your Trip: Navigate to the listing you want to book and enter your preferred trip dates.
Start Checkout: Click the Continue button (on the Web Browser) or tap Review request (on the Ride App).
Confirm Your Age: In the checkout flow (Step 1 on the App / Step 2 on the Web Browser), confirm your age bracket as 21–24 or 25+.
After confirming your age:
If Permitted: If the Host allows Young Drivers and the vehicle meets all requirements, you will be allowed to complete the checkout process. A $25/day Young Driver Fee will automatically be added, updating your itemized total breakdown immediately.
If Not Permitted: If the listing restricts Young Drivers, the system will display a prompt stating: "Drivers must be at least 25 years old to book the vehicle."
