You may find that you need an additional driver to share time behind the wheel during your trip. As the primary Guest, you can easily add additional drivers to your reservation through your Trip Details page.
Like changing your protection package, inviting an additional driver does not require approval from your Host. Once invited, the driver can begin their verification process immediately.
How to Invite an Additional Driver
Before starting, ensure that your invitee has a unique email address that is not connected to your own Ride account profile.
On the Web Browser:
Open the Invitation Window: Navigate to your Trip Details page, then locate and click the Invite a driver button to open the configuration window.
Enter Driver Information: Input the driver’s details into the Full name and Email fields.
-
Toggle Driver Privileges: Click the Invite as a driver checkbox
Pro Tip: You must check the Invite as a driver box so the system triggers the official, insurance-approved verification link in their invitation email.
Send the Invitation: Click the Send invite button.
Complete Verification: Advise your invitee to check their email inbox, accept the trip invitation, and complete the Verify my ID process before your departure date.
On the Ride App:
Locate the Section: Navigate to your Trip Details page, then scroll down to the dedicated Guests section.
Launch the Invitation Screen: Tap the Invite a guest button.
Input Contact Details: Enter the driver's name and unique email address into the Name and Email fields.
Enable Driving Permissions: Check the Invite as a driver box so the system routes the necessary verification documentation to them.
Finalize and Notify: Tap Send invite to dispatch the invitation, and remind your driver to check their inbox to complete their secure profile setup.
What are the Driver Verification Requirements & Process for Additional Drivers?
For an invited individual to be officially added as a secondary driver on your booking and covered under the Auto Protection Package, they must complete the driver verification process:
Accept the Invitation: The invited driver receives an email prompt to accept the trip invitation.
Submit Identification (Verify My ID): They must log into their Ride account (or create one using the invited email address) and navigate to the Verify My ID section to submit a valid government-issued driver's license and complete a quick identity check.
Instant Status Update: Once approved, their status on your Trip Details page will reflect as Verified Driver, automatically extending protection package coverage to them for the duration of the trip.

I am inviting a Young Driver (aged 21 to 24). What are the requirements?
If your invited driver is between the ages of 21 and 24, they may still be eligible to drive as long as the booking meets specific platform criteria:
-
Host Approval: The Host must have explicitly enabled Young Driver bookings on their vehicle listing.
Pro tip: If you're unsure whether your Ride Host allows Young Drivers, you may send them a direct message via the Ride app or website to check. For questions about how to contact a Host, please visit the Help Center article: I have a question about the vehicle I want to book. How do I contact the Host?
Vehicle Restrictions: The vehicle must have a total market value under $50,000 and cannot be an exotic make.
Daily Fee: A mandatory $25/day Young Driver Fee will apply to the reservation total.
For complete eligibility guidelines and vehicle restrictions, please see our Help Center article: What's the minimum age requirement for Ride drivers?
Can I invite International Drivers to my booking?
If your additional driver holds an international driver's license or a non-U.S. passport, additional guidelines apply. For detailed requirements, please review our Help Center article: Can I use Ride as an international traveler?
